Nicely illustrated by Brian McFadden of the NYT:
I tweeted this morning thusly:
And as the rest of the candidates chase Trump to the bottom, they not only get dumber but more racist. As always, this is good for the Democratic Party and bad for Democracy.I wonder if one can come up with a statement for why Trump should be President that is not incredibly dumb. https://t.co/0dzQDCMVWv— Steve Saideman (@smsaideman) August 23, 2015
Unlike the other GOP candidates who are competing for donor dollars and trying to prove themselves more conservative than the other, Trump's policies are more in line with the Average Republican's. For example, Trump is against cuts to social security and supports abortions in case of rape, incest or danger to the mother's health. This is a lot closer to the average Republican's ideas that the candidates chasing Koch bucks.
ReplyDeleteAt the same time, people can hope that Trump would moderate his tone if he became president. When you think about it, it's no less rational that assuming Mitt Romney could Etch-a-sketch his way out of of the positions he claimed to hold.
