All of the politicians and pundits who have sold the illusions of euroskepticism will now have to explain to the public why they should still trust them and continue to poke these holes. Good luck with that.<br /><br />So, the 21st century so far: where the post-9/11 USA is becoming the primary incubator of socially liberal, centre-left politics; mainstream conservatism is degenerating into violent nationalism (again); the UK and Commonwealth are on a path to dissolution; London may lose its status as a global city; the EU is in limbo; NATO has proven its strategic relevance; Korea has yet to reunify; "Pax Sinica" is a dud; humans have not returned to the Moon; and climate change denial is on the wane just in time.
