Terrorists, even suicide terrorists, are motivated by a desire to change the world - to bring about a new political arrangement that would be better, in their minds, than the old one. This fellow didn't want to change anything - his killing was an act of largely incoherent rage at a world he perceived as fundamentally broken and unfixable.
