Recurring Theme #7: Cognitive Closure

A new book has come out that argues that much of the history we know is wrong.

"In other words, when it comes to history, we prefer to believe what suits us."

To be clear, I have not read this book yet, but, since it confirms my beliefs, I don't think I have to read it myself [tongue firmly in cheek]. Indeed, I forget who told me of the distinction between books I have read and books I have read myself, but it is a useful one that captures how we absorb information--often indirectly.
