Flashback of the Week

Apparently, there is an airshow in Toronto in the near future because the Canadian elite flyers are soaring overhead in very loud F-18s. It reminded me of UCSD, which was positioned between the Top Gun training base and the Pacific until Miramar became something else (Marine air station?).

Anyway, I was eating lunch with someone and remarked that we didn't hear the jets the night before--perhaps the Canadians were following German rules of engagement--that they cannot fly at night! But, of course, once it was clear it was practice for an airshow, the timing made complete sense. Still, we had a good laugh.
