Snow removal is big, big business. And because it is not really a growing pie (how many new driveways and parking lots are there in any year), competition is mighty, mighty tough. So tough that one of the companies was arsoned. This is not the first time, as several years ago, a firm had its headquarters arsoned. The good news is this time it was only two tractors, but it is pretty amazing that this is the way competition takes place in this sector of the economy.
On the bright side, customer service is very much a priority in this sector (unlike other parts of the Quebec economy), with our company removing snow a couple of times after their contract ends (we got hit by a reasonable size snow storm in April once or twice).
Still, oh my.
There's no business like snow business.
