Check out this map of Africa and the celebrities that have "staked claims" to different countries.
What does it say that Clay Aiken is the one celebrity tied to Somalia? Yet another reason why Somalia seems cursed, I guess.
Anyway, check it out and ponder the choices folks make.
Why insult Clay Aiken? Doesn't make you look good. More importantly, it doesn't help your cause to insult the one celebrity tied to Somalia. Sorry, but your comment makes YOU sound like a jerk.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the previous poster. Clay Aiken went to a dangerous country to do work with UNICEF. That's a good thing. You don't need to insult him.
ReplyDeleteI meant no offense, just that Aiken does not have Clooney's stature.
ReplyDeletePerhaps more credit should be given to AMISOM than Clay Aiken, who was actually in Somaliland. Not to discredit him, just saying.
ReplyDeleteAnd it was a joke.
Poor Guineas. All three of them.
I can't get over the fact that Kim Kardashian has been to Botswana. I guess they haven't been so got at preventing the resource curse after all - *bling*
ReplyDeleteYou're a jerk!!!!
ReplyDeleteClay Aiken visited Somalia on behalf of UNICEF. After he returned from Somalia, He has been working with UNICEF since 2004, and has not only visited Somalia, but, Uganda, Afghanistan, Banda Aceh (after the tsunami), and Mexico (after devastating floods) as well. He may not be the equivalent of a George Clooney to you, but, you can't dismiss the fact that UNICEF selected him to represent them and have been extremely appreciate of the work he has done on their behalf.
ReplyDeleteI certainly don't think you are a jerk. I just believe that as an educated blogger (sorry, if I haven't heard of your blog prior to now), it would serve you well to do a bit of research on subjects you are blogging about ....especially when you are making a joke about a country that faces such a poor quality of life for it's innocent citizens.
If you get a chance, you might want to check out The Celebrity Apprentice. Clay Aiken is a participant this year on behalf of the National Inclusion Project (a charity he founded immediately after competing on American Idol). This charity provides opportunities for children with disabilities (autism, cerebral palsy, etc) to be included in activities with children free from disabilities. It not only enhances the lives of those with disabilities, it changes the lives of children who may only see children with disabilities from afar and whose perception of people with disabilities is forever changed.
Take care and have a nice weekend. :)
This is hilarious. Who knew Clay Aiken could inspire such passion?
ReplyDeleteAgain, it was a joke. Much like Clay's career.
Honestly it's worse than that Mr. Saideman because Clay Aiken went to Somalia and received credit for 'caring', but hasn't done anything since to help. Put the spot light on the REAL stars.
