I have spewed before about the outlook for law students these days--that their market sucks and that the training is expensive (and certainly mostly boring). Well, turns out aspirants figured it out for themselves:
Fewer folks are applying to law school. I guess it peaked during the recession as a way to avoid the job market, but the reality may have sunk in that law school is no guarantee of anything besides more debt.
Anyhow, I am now curious about GRE trends to see if the same trend is happening for aspiring grad students. I think not.
Good less competition.
ReplyDeleteIf you go to a good law school and do decently, you have a very good chance of getting a legal job where you will make >50,000k starting out (and have a decent shot at making >100,000k starting out). If you do a political science degree at a school with a good program, you will probably not get an academic job and, if you do, it probably won't be tenure tracked.
Yea, law school isn't a golden ticket, but this hype about how law students can't get jobs and have a lot of debt is overblown. In particular, if you go to a top-100 school, you'll probably be fine.
