News in Russian Civil-Military Relations
Interesting piece on the latest on Russia's military. Most striking is that the current defense minister is the first civilian to occupy that office. But more disturbing is that the government seems to be betraying its promises to find apartments and other compensation for the officers that lose their jobs. Demobilizing here is not as risky as demobilizing in Iraq in 2003, but it is still something that should be done with great care.
