Beer and Technology

Fun column at Slate on the new ads that tend to feature something other than the product.  Miller Lite is emphasizing their new bottle--the vortex.

What is it good for?  Getting the swill down faster, I suppose.  The other beer ad is about superior cans.  Holy oxymorons.  The reviewer discusses the advantage of the screw-top beer can, just mentioning the metalic taste as an aside.  All I know is that between American swill and cans, it took me a trip to Europe to appreciate beer.  The microbrew trend was long after my teenage years of drinking swill in cans.
