Lost Meets Happy Days

Not much Lost to discuss since it was not on last week, but Doc Jensen and Dan Snierson are a week behind.  And they have at it nicely.

Spoilers dwell below the fold (sorry, Steve G.)

And I agree, the Sun/Jin plots in both worlds were both resolved poorly.  Perhaps part of rushing through it all with only a few episodes left.  But I cannot complain about Doc and Dan: comparing Frank to the Fonz, using Star Wars to show two Suns, Claire/Jack and Luke/Leia and some nice discussion of the most recent episode, especially lots of promises made to be broken.  Indeed, this episode of Totally Lost has me wondering how much of this is Star Wars?  "There is good in him, I felt it."

And the teasers they have are much less subtle on the Happy Days jukebox:
  1. Frank is not the only pilot, which means what?  That his only real purpose is comic relief?
  2. Smokey takes a dip.  Ok, now back to more vague teasers.
  3. Desmond lives.  Well, we knew that.  What a waste of a teaser.
  4. Ooops, that was not the teaser--this is--Jack and Claire take a hard look at themselves.
And their discussion of Zombie Sayid makes me wonder: is Sayid the ultimate test in Jacob's social science lab?  If a guy with a darkness growing inside can choose to move of his path of destruction (self and other), then this really proves that free will > fate.  This is what we call in political science methodology a hard test.  You pass a harder test, the argument is more convincing.  Having Jack act according to his free will is perhaps an easier test, so Sayid might be the case that gets Jacob into a top journal.  Snierson raises the question--it cannot just be love, can it?  That Sayid's love for Nadia brings him back? But Snierson had just pooh-poohed Doc's pop culture references, so he might not be convinced of another Lost connection--Harry Potter, where love defeats evil.  Of course, they show the scene with Darth Vader saves Luke and kills the Emperor.  Again, love defeats evil.

Are you with me, brother?  [Zach and apparently Doc are not with us in the Lost and Out of Our Minds game, sad to say]

Speaking of teasers, as collected at Aint It Cool News,

The more Jack says he is staying, the less I believe he is THE candidate.

And then this one, where they are totally @#$#$ing with us.

I'm not complaining!! This is the perfect use for the "more" feature. It's only ordinary post when there's nothing to hide that it irritates me.
