Jacques Parizeau, former leader of the Parti Quebecois and passionate separatist, was admitted to Jewish General Hospital in Montreal yesterday. This is highly ironic or perhaps merely hypocritical since he famously (infamously) blamed the ethnic vote and moneyed interests (Jews) for the failure of the 1995 referendum. And his party has been hostile to the building of a new Anglophone (but really bilingual) hospital.
So, Jews are subversive in the political system, but as doctors, they are ok? And patronizing a hospital system that he has opposed? I don't want him to die or be denied treatment, but I do find this all somewhat amusing.
