Europe Suffers from Contagion

Reality tends to undermine the efforts by academics to study discrete units, like countries, as dynamics tend to spread.  Not just ethnic conflict and not just financial crises, but also the strange recent phenomenon of disgraced, failed politicians not having the good grace to fade away.  In the US, it was Dick Cheney appearing on TV all the time in 2009 blasting the Obama Administration. 

In 2011 Europe, it is Germany's former Ministry of Defense: Karl Theodor Maria Nikolaus Johann Jacob Philipp Franz Joseph Sylvester Freiherr von und zu Guttenberg.  He appeared at the Halifax Security Forum and said that the Euro crisis was one of leadership

That is mighty funny given that he was fired for having plagiarized his dissertation.  That probably makes him just a bit weak on the whole leadership question.  Still, we love a good comeback story (next post on Anakin Skywalker).


So, I will reduce my outrage by enjoying this tune:
