I have found out why Wendy selected Vincent the dog for her team:
In one of the Lost podcasts, Carlton Cuse says that one thing is certain--that Vincent will survive. So, I am guessing that Wendy's pick is no accident and not a result of her dog-obsession. Well-played, Wendy. We shall see if Vincent shows up in the finale or not. Too soon to tell, but we are getting closer.
